Introduction

The department fosters experts in early childhood education and childcare by providing students with education that combines theory and practice.

  • Cultivates early childhood education and childcare experts who can help promote physical, psychological, social, and emotional development of children in an integrated manner by providing education on topics related to childhood development and education at the academic and theoretical level.
  • The Department of Child Welfare Studies became the first in the country to establish a child welfare center, which has become one of the top daycare centers in Korea, and operates the Chungnam Provincial Office Daycare Center and Sejong Raon Daycare Center where students can receive practical training.
  • Engages in exchanges with the University of Pennsylvania Children’s Center

Practical expert

Cultivate the qualities of a practical expert by providing education on the development of early childhood education programs, teaching methods suitable for early childhood development, an understanding of child psychology, interactions with infants and young children, childcare policies, and evaluation and certification seminars

Program Characteristics

  • 1A 2-year (4-term) program - Lectures given by leading experts in childcare management in Korea
  • 2Cultivate the fundamental qualifications as a childcare management expert based on intensive education on theoretical perspectives, history, philosophical background, etc. in relation to childcare management
  • 3Offer dynamic programs by developing theories based on hands-on experiences and promoting field application of theories
  • 4Nurture childcare management experts with comprehensive knowledge and skills by assigning professors and mentors for more focused learning
  • 5Host workshops and acknowledge credits for students to acquire ICF-certified coaching certificates (Co-Active Coaching: Lv. 1 to 5)
  • 6Foster psychotherapy professionals by collaborating with international clinical institutions, carrying out case studies and hosting/attending conferences for students to gain an understanding of advanced theories in counseling and psychotherapy
