Introduction

With the aim of fostering experts in the field of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM), the department offers courses that integrate the scientific studies of traditional Eastern medicine and modern Western medicine and life sciences so as to take a complementary approach to disease treatment and prevention. It fosters international experts who will be able to lead the complementary and alternative medicine industry through systematic research and diverse clinical practices for holistic medicine.

Educational Objectives

  • Instill an understanding of the human anatomy and physiology and modern-day diseases and the fundamental knowledge and skills as a complementary and alternative medicine expert
  • Help students understand the correlation between the body and the mind and equip them with the skills to provide holistic health instructions based on mental and physical interventions
  • Foster health experts with rich expertise by focusing on life sciences centering on the human body, health science, etc.
  • Foster health experts with the skills to apply their knowledge and the ability to see natural complementary and alternative medicine practices with a balanced view
  • Equip students with the knowledge and skills required of researchers who can help make complementary and alternative medicine more scientific and systematic

  • 3Providing students with practical training at related hospitals, centers and associations at home and abroad through industry-university cooperation as a way to allow them to find a job or start their own business after they graduate
  • 4Operating education and training programs in connection with related institutions including Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Capital Medical University and Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and through overseas programs during school breaks

  • 6Implementing a joint degree program with prestigious medical universities in China
  • 7Providing students with an opportunity to acquire a national certification as a forest healing instructor after completing the master’s degree program
  • 8Providing students with an option to take a weekly class on Saturdays or biweekly (twice a week) night classes on weekdays
  • 9Graduates can find jobs at CAM centers at hospitals, nature healing centers (urban outpatient or mountain village inpatient type), healing centers, etc. at home and abroad
  • 10Graduates can open a clinic or find a job abroad (some 60 countries in Europe and South America), go on medical missions, etc.
  • 11Graduates can work as a health educator or forest healing instructor: health education institution, healing forest, etc.
  • 12Graduates can become a professor/educator specializing in CAM and natural healing
