Introduction

The Department of Integrated Welfare Service cultivates experts in senior welfare and senior-friendly industries.

Students are nurtured into experts who can effectively respond to the rising demand for health and welfare services due to population aging and a shift from the traditional lifestyle and way of thinking. The objective of the department is to foster students into leaders in senior welfare and senior-friendly industries, which have been noted as the most promising area in the 21st century by various research institutes and consulting firms.

Educational Objectives

  • Cultivate knowledge and skills related to senior welfare services and policies that comprehensively satisfy the various needs of the elderly and prevent issues related to seniors
  • Foster skilled senior welfare experts capable of practicing the philosophy and value of senior welfare by providing practical education programs that meet the needs of an aging society
  • Foster experts, administrators, educators, etc. in senior-friendly industries and areas of senior welfare by equipping them with the necessary knowledge and practical skills through domestic and international academic seminars and multidisciplinary approaches

Program Characteristics

The department offers educational opportunities related to geriatric welfare, geriatric nursing service, welfare medical devices for the elderly and persons with disabilities, policy development for an aging society, etc. with instructions provided by full-time professors with rich field experience. The department has also formed an industry-university-government network based on the need to foster geriatric health and welfare experts in response to the dramatic quantitative growth of industries related to senior-friendly health, welfare and nursing services and related products and devices. By inviting experts from public and private senior welfare service providers for lectures and hosting advisory committee meetings, the department provides education and training to impart practical knowledge and skills that can be applied in the field.
Those who did not major in social welfare studies as an undergrad can also obtain the Social Worker (Class II) certificate by completing at least 6 required courses and 2 elective courses in accordance with the Social Welfare Services Act.

Graduates from the Department of Integrated Welfare Service will obtain national qualification certificates as a social worker, care worker, etc. and be able to find the following types of jobs:
